New AutoGrid Blog Series Paints a Portrait of the Many Faces of AutoGrid Who are the people of AutoGrid, why do they enjoy working here, and why might you want to join us? We’re launching this blog series to answer those questions. Our premise is simple: The best way to learn why people choose to work at a company is to ask them. I shared my own journey a couple of years ago, you can learn more about it here. Over the next several months, you will hear directly from our team members who share their thoughts on the industry,…
The electrification of transport could transform our future – if we are prepared for it Electric vehicles (EVs) are set to change everything about how energy is consumed and supplied. As a report from the World Economic Forum, Electric Vehicles for Smarter Cities: The Future of Energy and Mobility makes clear, we’re at the start of a mobility revolution. By 2040, more than half of new cars sold in the world will be EVs, with 70% of market share in Europe, and over 50% in China. You may or may not already drive an EV. But sooner or later, you will. Certainly your…
Innovation through technology: a hallmark of the utility of the future Utilities find themselves caught in a whirlwind of change brought about by dynamic shifts in markets, regulation, legislation, consumer values and technologies. One way that utilities can take charge of their future is through technological innovation. While not a panacea for all these challenges, emerging distributed technologies such as flexible demand, distributed generation, energy storage, advanced power electronics and control devices offer new ways to produce and consume electricity and deliver value to customers. These new technologies get even more attractive as information and communications technologies become more affordable…
Technology and knowledge are expanding our ability to solve problems and deliver meaningful change in the energy business. Here are five trends we’re watching for the coming year.
Cheap, Reliable and Sustainable Energy through Flexibility Management at the Grid Edge We are both honored and humbled to be a Leader in both the demand response management system (DRMS) and virtual power plant (VPP) software Leaderboard reports published in the last month by Navigant Research– the only company to have been named as a Leader in both categories. We are very proud of the innovations achieved by the AutoGrid team in the new category of flexibility management at the grid edge, and more importantly, the results these innovations—paired with a relentless focus on customer success— have delivered to our clients. AutoGrid was founded…
Energy Internet Technology: An Interview with Dr Amit Narayan, CEO of Autogrid Inc AutoGrid, a leader in Energy Internet software, recently announced that it has raised $20 million from a consortium of global strategic investors that includes the utility-backed fund Energy Impact Partners (EIP) and Envision Ventures. Earlier this year AutoGrid was recognized by Bloomberg New Energy Finance as a New Energy Pioneer 2016, and was named a Grid Edge 2016 Award winner by Greentech Media. These awards followed 12 months of achievement, including 16 new customer agreements and a 350 percent increase in distributed energy resources under contract; recognition of the…
How Data Will Power the Future of Energy Throughout history, we’ve equated energy with the consumption of natural resources such as oil, natural gas or coal. In the coming decades we will start to think of data and software as a source of energy. What do I mean by that? Software won’t generate electrons, but it will let us leverage the electricity we are already generating in a more efficient and productive way. Instead of building new power plants, we will take advantage of the search engine-like analytics of software-based controls to lower emissions and reduce costs. In other words,…
